Sometimes you just have to keep your head down

First off apologies for being so tardy with the blog but I think once you read this you will forgive me for being otherwise occupied.  I feel like I’ve said that far too often recently but it can’t be helped…..  Especially, when I get something into my head that has to be turned into something real. When we started Secret In The Dirt, it was with the idea that we would try to create as many ways for golfers to connect as we could.

Our original idea for our store for instance was that we would choose a platform that would not only allow us to sell Secret In The Dirt stuff but also allow our members to sell things to one another.  Some of you may actually remember that first storefront.  Elk thought that everyone in The Dirt could have their own “Garage”.  It was a vision that we had and although Elk probably thought that I was ignoring him it was an idea that consumed me for many, many months. I just couldn’t figure out how to fully realize that vision.

I wanted to provide a place for exchange, but I also remembered all of the hoops that Jimmy Nissen and I jumped through to create and release the original ebook.  Why couldn’t we make a place where selling an ebook was simpler?  Or how about a video?  Heck, why not make a place where you could exchange video files so that someone could get a virtual lesson?  While we’re at it maybe we could plow in some functionality to make tangible goods sellable too.The vision for making this really happen finally came together in March.

Knowing that we were going to do this and how much of my time and attention it was going to take out of me I did what anyone else would do…I played a little golf ;-) ……..Then I put my head down and started to map this all out with the SITD Team and in particular our programmer Tom Otvos and of course Jimmy Nissen who helped me launch the original ebook.  (Hard to believe we did that more than 2 and 1/2 years ago)  What we came up with is call and it is a sister site to Secret In The Dirt (click logo to open the site)

What we have built we have built for YOU.

The Secret In The Dirt team will use it to sell its’own stuff too so you will see Elk listing some of his clubs and the shirts he designs, but if you have a golf item or service it can be listed in the very same site that he lists his own stuff in.  You can also buy autographed Jack Burke items.  Other tour pros will also be putting items into the site for sale so you are likely to find items here that are very unique.  Many people have asked Calder Chism to create avatars for them and although he has limited time to do this, this service will also be offered and he will do a few per week.  If there are other artists out there capable of this type of work they are welcome to join the party as well.  This is a place for all of us.  Our vision is for Secret In The Dirt to be about all golfers on equal terms!!!!

If you have something to offer the golf world we want to give you the place and the tools to do it!! The market can then decide the merits of what you have put forward. If you are interested in selling something in the marketplace you can download the Sellers Guide here:

In keeping with our idea that great golf instruction should be affordable we also developed a concept called MicroGolfLessons.  To find out what our concept of a MicroGolfLesson is visit (click cartoon to open)

Don’t know if keeping your head down is the best advice for golfers, but when you are in business and you want to get things done sometimes it pays to develop a bit of tunnel vision about your project.  So……that’s what I’ve been up to.  I hope you all enjoy what we’ve created.

Thank you again to Elk, Mr. Burke and the rest of the team for helping and supporting me to further Secret In The Dirt.  Thanks also to my mom and dad for embracing the Secret In The Dirt vision as well!!!! Most importantly thank you to the members of Secret In The Dirt.  I think you all know that Secret In The Dirt has been built sort of like a car company that is trying to make cars while it is still trying to build the factory to build the cars.  That’s been a difficult challenge but it has also been very rewarding.  Your patience as we’ve moved forward has been most appreciated.

It is our hope to always keep the core of Secret In The Dirt free.  If you care about The Dirt please use the BuyNSellGolf site and above all else tell you friends.

Hit ‘em straight,

PS…We are still investigating to find the best chat for the core site and we have plenty of other enhancements in the pipeline.  AskSevam1 will also be returning shortly and we have a few other content enhancements up our sleeves that I will tell you all about very soon!!!
