TOPIC: Wilson Dynapower

Wilson Dynapower 2 years 4 weeks ago #34185

I'm hoping somebody can help.  I've seen some Wilson Dynapower blades that I quite fancy .... mainly to experiment with.  I've only got a couple of pics which aren't very good, but the only graphics on the club heads are a Fred Perry type of 'wreath' around a W and the word Dynapower on the rear.  On the sole they just have 'Wilson' and the iron number.

No 'fluid feel', no 'staff' ...... very plain in appearance.

Wilson pro step shafts.

Any clues as to age or model?

I'm guessing late 1970s / early 1980s, based on the typeface. Haven't seen this exact variant before.

My own preference is for the 50s & 60s DynaPower models as they had a bit more "bling" factor to them and more interesting muscle designs.

Sure these will still go okay though!

The hosels look long in some pics. Are there any shaft pins? Wilson did not like to use shaft pins but in some early models they did I do believe.

I agree with Dan, if there are no shaft pins I would say late 70's, early 80's. Although its still hard to say. The FG-17'ws used a dual gold bad on the ferrule. Can't tell about these.

Here is a link to some classic Wilson ferrules.

You could try contacting Wilson directly, you might have some luck that way.

More than likely a "department store" model from late seventies. Definitely not top of the line. -t.r.s.

On a related Dynapower question, I have a set with black shaft bands. My understanding is that Wilson used black on regular flex. Can someone confirm for me if that is correct?

I don't think that's true for the Wilson Staff Dynapower irons. They have the usual "R" for regular flex, and "S" for stiff. -James

I agree they look like a department store model...they made similar stuff with Jerry Pate and Andy Bean and I think Hale Irwin stamped on the back also

here is a leaflet I have about Wilson clubs....it is fairly old...from the 80's so disregard the prices ....someone may be able to read the shafts or know more about the labels and what they mean than I do
