Al Geiberger was born September 1, 1937 and is best known for being the first man to shoot 59 in a PGA Tour event. Geiberger was born in Northern California and attended college at USC, graduating in 1959. He turned pro soon thereafter.
Geiberger went on to win 11 times on the PGA Tour, including the 1966 PGA Championship. He had a total of 11 top tens in the majors.
In 1977, Geiberger made history at the Danny Thomas Memphis Classic when he shot 59 in the second round. Geiberger would also go on to win the event.
In 1987, Geiberger joined the Champions Tour and achieved a great deal of success, capturing 108 top 10's and ten wins.
