  • About me

I have been playing golf for about 33 years and currently teach golf in “The Villages” Florida. In my golfing journey I’ve experienced all the ups and downs this game can offer. :) I always tell my students that I have done it all the wrong ways so they don’t have too.
I am a bit eccentric so my teachings reflex that. You can see from my treads that I am a fan of the Asian arts. The two people who have influenced my teachings the most are Bruce Lee and Ben Hogan; it would have been fascinating to see them in a conversation about motion. I spent many years learning the Martials Arts; I even lived in Korea studying Praying Mantis Kung Fu for a year. I use a lot of my background in the martial arts when I teach. Like the Master Zen Archer I truly believe a student cannot learn golf effectively until they connect to the target.

  • Brian Robinson - created a new topic Tai Chi, ZaZen, QiGong and the Concentration Drill in the forum.
In golf we are often told what we can and cannot do in the swing. We are sometimes even told just swing the club and forget about everything. In the end golfers become frustrated because the mind, the spirit and the body are not connected together in the golf motion. In arts such as Tai Chi, Zazen and Qigong this is the ultimate goal. Can we learn something from these arts? I would like to invite you on a quest. Together let’s explore new ways of looking at our training. For example, can...

  • Brian Robinson - created a new topic Golf and The Tao of Jeet Kune Do in the forum.
Bruce Lee is to Martial Arts what Hogan is to Golf. I have often wondered what these two masters of motion would have discussed had they spent time together. The reason I am writing this thread is to encourage a discussion about how the Tao of Jeet Kune do applies to golf. For those that are unfamiliar with the Tao of Jeet Kune Do, it was written by Bruce Lee and it expresses his martial arts philosophy Read More...

  • Brian Robinson - created a new topic Hogan's Right Foot Drag in the forum.
I would like other golfers ideas on why Hogan's right foot dragged through impact. Many great players have had this same action. Any thoughts?
