My fundamental is putting the bottom 3 grooves through the ball on a shallow angle so the sole hit's the dirt after this event (obviously I'm talking about full iron shot's).

    DaveJaVu
Bottom 3 grooves through the ball an intention? or on your perfect shots, those are the grooves that compress the ball?

I want to be cleaning dirt out of the bottom two grooves. Trying to compress the ball higher in the face.

  • Not many greats were perfectly square to target. I was not attacking gerry as it seems to happen very often on this site and others I was merely pointing out that it's not like gerry is telling blasphemy.

I feel his ideal of swinging the handle toward the golf ball (the trip wire analogy) and swinging on an inside to outside path are the core of his teaching and that pretty much lines up with every other methodology that exists. This is because I think these two

If you do use ur hips...but have not seen one guy on here with his build

    Dizanator,

Doesnt lie angle of the club, define the only plane that counts?

Many here , all shapes and sizes of golfers, have their clubs as flat or flatter than Ben Hogan.

    Please explain your point.

Mark, it's not balance. It's combination of instincts and bad instruction that has been increasing that motion during the decades.

It's natural instinct to swing the club head and speed it up instead of handle. Hands deceleration to accelerate the club head... seeing that every day, fixing that idea every day.

It's not too many who understands that handle acceleration is the key for great golf and that acceleration can only happen if that handle follows the

  • Ben Hogan said he had "supple hands" and "practiced a lot". I believe he had the hand action pre-programmed for his "supple" hands to make that action in that .02 seconds in his release because with all other actions grooved into his swing, this hand-impact release action was the paramount thought in his conscious mind that everything else in his swing supported and was built up to do.

Also for Lane's benefit, Ben Hogan in his book "Power

Gross motor control skills are locked in and DONE in early childhood. Any training of them past that resolves to temporary muscle memory. If attaining scratch and below is the goal, better find which of those skills applied to a golf swing has no great impact on your ability to repeat them. Then, you find what isn't based on gross motor control skills and build and build upon them because you CAN keep those for life once you know how to use them.

It's so not about push /

I never heard him use the word "flip". That just isn't there...

    Alvin,

Your right, I did make that up. Didnt intend to attribute that line to the Master in the video.

I do think of that move that way.

..stall the hips, flip the wrists,
stall the shoulders flip the forearm. Could be wrong.... again.

Look at Moe "fold his left arm" at 1:22. I think you are just making shit up...

Moe after his late in life swing change....nice try.

    you are the KNIT picker.

For right hand dominant, it’s the right hand… and the ball goes left…. unless you never close the clubface.

Whatever works on the range must be taken to the course..... Moe was right.

    Vinny,

What worked for Moe on the range worked on the course.

He kept the clubface square longer through impact than even Ben Hogan.

"swing the clubhead", he said. "pull' dont...

I think what linda is trying to say is that hogan doesn't get flippy through impact with his hands, she just said it wrong in that the right hand never crosses over the left. It does indeed, very late in the swing, but hogan doesn't seem to flip his wrists to do that, he seems to rotate his forearms and keep the angle between the left wrist and forearm relatively constant.

    HI Nick,

Good luck to get back to the tournaments soon. Enjoy hearing your...
